Since going Paleo my family has fallen even more in love with our grill. Paleo and grilling just work well together. The past couple of years I've even been stepping outside my grilling comfort zone more and more. Grilling things I'd never thought to have grilled before and trying new flavor combinations. I have to say I'm pretty thrilled with the results of most of my flavor experiments. In the past I'd never have thought to grill fruit, but it's amazing. Grilling fruit and adding it to traditionally savory dishes? Brilliant. Oh yes, and? New rule: every burger recipe for the rest of forever must contain grilled pineapple. OK, maybe more of a guideline. It's a seriously delicious combination though. This Smoky Grilled Pineapple Burger is always a crowd-pleaser at my house. It's not only Paleo, but Whole30, glutenfree, lower carb, and clean eating friendly. I promise you won't miss the bun! paleo, grilled pineapple burger, smoky

Koneko is thrilled to be back on the blog again to chat about better pet nutrition. If you missed my first post featuring him it's here. He's really getting good at working the camera, don't you think?
I talk a lot about food, nutrition, and especially paleo eating on FitViews. I believe that good nutrition is a must. It's the foundation upon which we build everything else in our lives. You may know that I'm passionate about people nutrition, but I'm also passionate about pet nutrition. Providing good nutrition is one of the most important things we can do for our families and our pets as well. Better nutrition equals better everything!
Quality nutrition is essential to my family's overall well-being and that translates equally to my pets. To me, a good nutritional plan is built on an ancestral diet foundation. It's based on what we are naturally meant to eat. Not that this food is "bad" or that food is "wrong", but focusing on what is best. What our bodies are built to thrive on. What they will naturally respond best to.
My family eats paleo because I believe this is what our bodies thrive on, what we're meant to eat. I also believe my pets deserve a diet they will thrive on. For my cats this means a low carb, grain-free pet food. A pet food high in animal-based protein. A pet food that closely mimics my cat's ancestral diet.
For about 3 weeks we've been trying Nulo™ Pet Food. This! This is what we've been searching for.
Nulo Pet Food is a premium pet food available at Pet Smart nationwide. Nulo is pet nutrition inspired by world class athletes, and it perfectly aligns with what I believe my cats need.
Why I love the nutrition Nulo provides:
- Nulo provides a protein rich diet with industry leading animal-based protein levels that nourish growth, repair muscle and tissue, and enhance flavor.
- Nulo is lower in carbs promoting lean body mass.
- Nulo's patented probiotic, BC30, supports my cat's immune system, provides improved nutrient absorbtion, reduces gas and improves stool quality, and prevents growth of yeast organisms that may cause skin problems and ear infections. It also survives the cooking process.
- Nulo is grain-free pet food and contains low glycemic carbs like apples, carrots, lentils, and sweet potatoes.
Living Healthier Together not only means better nutrition, but also being consistently physically active. Cats too. Laying around on the couch all day does not a healthy kitty make. They need activity just like we do!
My family loves to get outside to get active. We recently moved to Idaho where we now have a long driveway and 8 acres to roam. One of our favorite family activities is a good long walk or hike around our property. Sometimes we take our two little goats Maggie and Lillie, but the cats always come too. Even if we can't find Koneko and Todd when we head out they always manage to find us! I think they enjoy it as much as we do.
After switching my cats to Nulo Pet Food these last 3 weeks, I'm confident in sharing that we love everything about Nulo. I love Nulo's philosophies on pet nutrition and living Healthier Together. My picky eater cats love the taste. What can I say? We're hooked.
And, yes, Nulo makes dog food as well! That is also available at Petsmart.
